Dorothea

Dorothea was announced
On Monday 31st August 1936 the above announcement appeared in the Daily Mail.On the next day Dorothea was born. She was the smartly dressed, sophisticated follower of style and fashion and was inspired by William St. J. Glenn 's wife "Dorothea."

The cartoon strip continued until the outbreak of War in 1939 when newspapers were forced to reduce their use of paper.

Here are a few samples of the daily output during those 3 years. They show William St.J. Glenn's knowledge of fashion such that many readers thought Glenn must be a woman!!

The picture is called Dorothea Modes

The above picture appeared in July 1937 and clearly showed W. St. J. Glenn's awareness of the latest clothes.
